Simple Tips For a Flu-Free Winter

The mild weather has officially ended and winter is beginning to feel like it is headed into full swing. With winter storm Jonas scheduled to make an impact on the Northeast this weekend, folks are getting ready to hunker down and ride out this year’s first gnarly Nor’easter.

Not only do we have to deal with some pretty epic storms in New England, but we also have to deal with being cooped up inside together with each other’s germs, as we ride out the next wintry mix. This brings with it the task of trying to combat every cold, flu and stomach virus around. However daunting this may seem, don’t resign to reaching for your tissues and Tylenol just yet, because the following are some simple, everyday things you can do, to keep away the cold & flu:

  • Get your flu shot.
  • Take your vitamins.
  • Eat a balanced diet.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Stay warm.
  • Get plenty of sleep.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water.
  • Use an alcohol based hand sanitizer when no soap and water are available.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Keep all surfaces in your immediate environment clean and sanitized.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with your hands.

Here at American Training, we know that the best offense is a good defense…and the best way that you can combat the cold & flu this season is to remember to take these everyday simple steps to avoid catching it all together. We  do everything we can every day to keep germs at bay, so we can continue to spread our WOW!
