Celebrate PT Month

According to the APTA (American Physical Therapy Association), Physical Therapists “teach patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benefits. PT’s examine each individual and develop a plan, using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, and restore function.”

Here at American Training, our Physical Therapists Martha Ball and Carol Williams, play a huge role in the lives of our Guests. They are here to serve and cater to their needs, as well as the needs of their caregivers.

The role of Physical Therapists at American Training encompasses quite a bit and some of the standard roles and responsibilities include the evaluation and re-evaluation processes for all of our Guests as well as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Wheelchair clinics
  • Assess and set up orthotic clinics with prescribing MD and Orthotist
  • Maintain communication and involvement of family members/guardians, residential managers and program directors with issues regarding the mobility and positioning needs of the guests
  • Annual trainings for direct care colleagues for the  use of adaptive equipment and lifting, positioning and transfer techniques

Our Physical Therapists are always available whenever needed – no appointment necessary. Their open door policy ensures each and every Guest feels welcome in the therapy room at any time to address his/her individualized needs.

Be sure to take the time to thank the PT’s in your life!
