In Massachusetts, 1 in 8 people struggles with hunger and with your help, Vanway can help those that go day to day wondering where their next meal will come from. You can help us help our community members!
Every year Vanway, the transportation branch of American Training, holds their annual food drive to collect canned goods and other non-perishable food items for those in need throughout the communities we serve and call home.
This year, we’ll be collecting Monday, September 18 through Friday, November 10. Last year we collected 484 pounds of food (that’s 400 meals!) and delivered them to the local food pantries in the Merrimack Valley area. With your help, we can even take it a step further this year. Let’s collect even more food and feed even more people. Help us meet our goal of 550 lbs. of food.
Update: After our weekend at area Market Basket’s, we’ve collected 310 lbs. of food and a few cash donations which will be used to buy even more food! Keep it coming! Just think of how many community members we can feed if we reach our goal!
Where does it go?
The Salvation Army serves 60 million meals to anyone in need through its many soup kitchens, sit-down meal programs, food pantries, mobile meals and community gardens. Neighbors in Need has fed the hungry of Greater Lawrence for 30 years. The Merrimack Valley Food Bank in Lowell has been transporting, storing and distributing food to disadvantaged members in the community since 1991.
How can I help?
Donate! Stop by our collection bins that resemble the Campbell Soup Cans at our Andover location (6 Campanelli Drive), Lowell location (150 Industrial Drive), our Wakefield location (107 Audubon Drive), and our LARE Chelsea location (100 Everett Ave # 8) between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you need someone to pick-up your donation, call Robin at 978-685-2151, ext. 6822 for a pick up from one of our professional and courteous drivers.
Spread the word! Share this link on social media and tell all your friends and family to do the same. The more people that know about it, the more donations will pour in, which means more meals for our community members in need!
Hundreds of donated items pour in at Market Basket collections
