Going Yellow for Spina Bifida

This week we went Yellow in honor of Spina Bifida Awareness Month. Our Colleagues, Guests, Residents and Students spent the day creating beautiful yellow works of art, all in an effort to show our support for those living with Spina Bifida.

Check out the pictures from the day here and scroll down for more information on Spina Bifida.

Spina Bifida Facts:

  • 8 babies are born with Spina Bifida (or a similar birth defect) every day.
  • There are four types of spina bifida: occulta, closed neural tube defects, meningocele, and myelomeningocele.
  • Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect, or NTD.
  • NTDs are serious birth defects that involve incomplete development of the brain, spinal cord and or protective coverings for these organs.
