Growing A Garden With Love & WOW! Magic

Step into the world of our Specialized Housing Gardens and experience the WOW! Magic of  ATI’s Green Thumbs. It’s a sensory delight to spend some time among the plants. The bright green of the lettuce, now going to seed; the paler green of the tomatoes as they get ready to ripen; the dark green of the zucchini, and the gray green of the kale, crinkling around it’s edges, are all part of the garden color palate.

The bright yellow of  summer squash, peeking out from under the abundant foliage, draws us closer. Then we see the soft white color of the cauliflower trying to stay hidden in the folds of its leaves. Looking into the bushiness of the cherry tomatoes, we can already catch some ripe reds and orange fruits shining through. Those are some of the sights for our eyes when we take the time to check out the gardens.

But gardening is not only a pleasure for the eyes, but for our other senses, too. The smell of the herbs: oregano, basil, thyme, mint, dill, parsley, rosemary; Mmmmm, delicious. Just to run your hands though the leaves feels and smells wonderful. Why doesn’t someone make a perfume out of these scents?

Gardening is work, too. Good work. Digging, planting, watering, weeding, picking; these are all simple tasks, but with great reward. It’s good for people to get dirty sometimes. Feel the dirt, squish the bugs, stretch your muscles; there is always time for a long hot shower or bath at the end of the day. And when the work is done, you can look at your accomplishments with satisfaction.

And if the weather cooperates, and you can keep the critters away, you can experience the joy of biting into a fresh tomato right off the vine, maybe letting the juices drip onto your chin as you smile and think, “Job well done!”
