Losing To Win: ATI’s Biggest Loser

Before 2015 hits, the scramble to set New Year’s Resolutions plays a major role in the stresses of the holiday season. Here at ATI, we didn’t wait for the New Year and it’s accompanying resolutions to come to us. We gave ourselves a head-start by taking on one of the most popular resolutions with our own ATI Biggest Loser.

Back on November 10, twenty-three brave Colleagues signed up, paying $20 each to participate in the six-week weight-loss challenge. One by one, they weighed in.

With only the Colleague organizing the challenge knowing starting weights, she kept track of their progress along the six week journey. Encouraging walks before and after the work day, sending emails of encouragement and messages of motivation, she guided them to make healthier choices throughout November and December, with the final weigh-in landing on December 19.

After the weigh-ins, it was clear many participants had lost significant weight. Along the six-week journey, many had changed their habits and learned to make healthier choices, but it was Milton Tenas, of our Maintenance Department, who walked away more than 20 lbs. lighter and $460 richer.

“I did it for my wife. I made her a promise for our anniversary,” said Milton. “I feel great. It took a lot of self-discipline.”

He added, “I plan to lose more weight.”

Milton will not be alone. Another ATI Biggest Loser will kick-off on January 5. Many who participated in the last Loser will join the first-timers next month to see who has what it takes to change their lives for the better.

Each challenger will again pay $20 into the prize pot. The coordinating Colleague is hoping to get 50 people to join, working to collectively lose hundreds of pounds, with one winner walking away with a $1,000 jackpot!

Any Colleagues who are interested in focusing on a healthier, more active lifestyle in 2015, can call 978-685-2151, x6822 for more details.
